What can the “Sjörå” of folklore tell us about our relationship to water?
Water is the origin and home of all life on Earth. Water is our planetary womb. Today, we are experiencing a crisis in modern humanity’s relationship with water, reflected in overfished and polluted seas, lakes, and waterways. Could ancient storytelling traditions carry knowledge and foster bonds that help us heal our fractured connection with our surroundings? Could legal recognition of nature’s rights be a path toward renewed respect for water?
Henrik Hallgren is a nature educator, storyteller, and author who has co-written Naturlagen – Om naturens rättigheter och människans möjligheter (“The Law of Nature – On the Rights of Nature and the Possibilities of Humanity”) together with Pella Thiel. Henrik is the founder of the association and think tank Lodyn, focused on an ecopsychological exploration of the human relationship to the rest of nature.
Co-organizers: Bonadsmuseum Unnaryd and Konst i Halland
