What to expect
Let’s explore the intricate art of wax-resist dyeing, a technique with deep roots in various cultures like Indonesia, India, and my home, Hungary. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn to apply melted wax onto natural fibers to create unique patterns that resist dye, resulting in beautifully layered designs. We’ll use handmade tools crafted from wood and nails, and natural dyes derived from plants and kitchen scraps. This immersive experience is open to all, though it involves more complex techniques and materials, making it ideal for those eager to delve deeper into traditional textile arts.
The workshop will take place twice during the festival, each workshop lasting 3 h. Take part only once or create a more complex design with multiple colors and use the second workshop to continue your piece.

Slöjd in the Woods
Slöjd in the Woods is an independent project that exists within the framework of the Into the Woods festival. The project brings together professional artisans and craftsmen from various traditional fields to offer engaging workshops and short courses. It’s a unique chance for festival-goers to immerse themselves in the world of traditional crafts.
The goals of the project are to reach individuals who might not typically engage in creative activities and to create a platform for knowledge exchange among cultural practitioners.
Slöjd in the Woods aims to inspire and ignite creativity through hands-on sessions set in the enchanting surroundings of the forest, showcasing crafts in their natural element.
A special thanks to Region Halland, who’s support has made the project possible.
