What to expect
Brooms are an essential home-making item. They are used for tending our home space, workshops and for altars & rituals. A morning sweep is a meditative task that starts my day. Industrial machines are taking over crafts that were once taught and passed through the generations. Join me to make this simple home item that you will use everyday, and will likely gift to everyone you know. You will learn the basics of making small hand brooms with minimal materials and tools. The class will provide tools and materials.

During the class you will have the opportunity to learn & make 2-3 hand brooms. A few different techniques and designs will be demonstrated that you can practice in class or take notes on for your continued making at home.We will also learn a bit of the history and lineage of this tradition of broom making.

Three different natural plant broom materials will be available for your to choose from. If there is enough material you can buy more material to continue your learning at home.

Want to attend Hand Broom & Brush Binding? Pre-register at info@wildcraftedhome.com or drop in – it’s important to be there when the workshop starts!

Slöjd in the Woods

Slöjd in the Woods is an independent project that exists within the framework of the Into the Woods festival. The project brings together professional artisans and craftsmen from various traditional fields to offer engaging workshops and short courses. It’s a unique chance for festival-goers to immerse themselves in the world of traditional crafts.

The goals of the project are to reach individuals who might not typically engage in creative activities and to create a platform for knowledge exchange among cultural practitioners.

Slöjd in the Woods aims to inspire and ignite creativity through hands-on sessions set in the enchanting surroundings of the forest, showcasing crafts in their natural element.

A special thanks to Region Halland, who’s support has made the project possible.
