What to expect
The knife is one of our most rudimentary tools. Knowing how to use knives gives us the basic knowledge of many craft techniques. Knife skills also provide us with a way to live more sustainably. These skills also enable us to use renewable materials found in nature and repair broken belongings. To carve is both a wholesome and meditative process, aiding one to be in the present and relax from the noise of everyday life.
The focus of the workshop will be to learn and get inspired by how to carve simple utilities for everyday use. You will get instructions and tips, but most importantly practice techniques and inspire each other to carve in a safe way, smart, and neat. Basic knife knowledge and a sharp knife are key to safer and more effective cutting – it also makes carving more fun! During the workshop, you will try different techniques to sharpen knives. Knives can be provided but you are encouraged to bring your own, both for carving and sharpening.
The workshop will be held in Swedish, if you want to participate I can gesticulate as well as anybody else but my English is limited – knowing this, if you are curious feel free to participate anyway!
